Chapter Fifteen

Anthony

I PULLED UP THE INFORMATION for my pilot and quickly gave him a call, ensuring the itinerary for the private jet had been filed. I didn’t want any hang-ups with the trip. It was my way of doing things. I wanted everything to be perfect. I hated when things didn’t go as planned or problems arose from poor planning.

“Rose, can you have the head of marketing and the head of R and D come into my office please,” I said through the intercom.

“I will let them know,” she replied.

A few seconds later, I heard her heels clacking across the floor and I knew she was going down the hall to tell them personally. I laughed, wondering why she didn’t call them, but that was her way. She had earned the respect of everyone in the company. She was very personable and that included face-to-face conversations whenever she could.

Twenty minutes later, both men were in my office. I went over what I wanted to happen in the week leading up to my departure and what I expected to happen while I was gone. With everyone on the same page, I excused them and called Rose into my office.

She walked in, closing the door behind her. “Hi,” she said with a smile.

I leaned back in my chair, pulling my glasses off and rubbing my eyes. “Hey.”

“You have been going nonstop since you got in today. Do you want to take a break? I can run down to the corner and get you something to eat,” she said, looking at my face.

“Do I look that bad?” I asked.

She laughed. “You could never look bad.”

“Thank you. I’m just trying to cover as much ground as I can before we leave.”

“You really need to hire a vice president or promote someone to the position. I understand your need to have complete control, but you’re running yourself ragged,” she said, and I knew it came from a place of real concern.

I shrugged a shoulder. “Maybe one day, but I don’t think we’re there yet.”

“When do you see that happening? Do you have a goal in mind that will tell you when you can slow down?”

I shook my head. “I really don’t,” I said, putting my glasses back on.

“I’m here for you. If you need me to do something extra to make things easier, please let me know.”

I grinned, waggling my brows. “I know something you could do that would help me relax a little.”

She burst into laughter. “That is about the furthest from relaxed as a person can get.”

“Not after.”

“You’re bad.”

“You’re hot,” I shot back.

I could see the flush on her face and knew she was thinking the same thing. The sexual chemistry between us was off the charts. I had to believe there were some pheromones at work. I had never been that physically attracted to another woman in all my life and I wasn’t a damn monk. I had been with plenty of women, but none of them had ever had this kind of effect on me.
